An Institutional-Based Governance Framework for Energy Efficiency Promotion in Small Island Developing States

Energy efficiency and conservation policy continues to take the proverbial “backseat” energy access renewable discourses in small island developing states (SIDS). In this study, we intend motivate agenda encourage more action. To do so, review current challenges SIDS role of addressing those challenges, discuss trends rate improvement SIDS, exhibit an updated list programs initiatives being implemented consider barriers implementation set forth a policy-focused plan accelerate Barriers for adoption policies continue be institutional policy- governance-oriented; economic financial; informational; technical. A four-pronged advancement approach tackling initiation, incentivization, information investment is recommended tap potential gains from efficiency.
